Succession Plan for Safety Roles

As a professor, you are responsible for ensuring that the health of your staff and students is protected and that accidents are prevented within ETH Zurich. You are obliged to designate safety officers and to inform your staff/students of the essential points on safety and intervention should an event occur.

If an employee who occupied a safety role leaves your group, please observe the following information:

Biosafety Officer (BSO)

Is your Biosafety Officer leaving ETH Zurich? If so, please report the resignation and the contact information of the successor BSO by e-mail to AGU. In addition, you must include the BSO personnel change in your ECOGEN reports.

Decentralised Dangerous Goods Office (Decentralised DGO)

If your staff member performing the function of decentralised hazardous goods officer is leaving ETH, decide early on who shall take over that function, ensure the necessary training and please contact Dr. Judith Rothardt to ensure smooth transition and succession.

Group Safety Representative (GSR)

Is the person leaving the ETH Zurich a Group Safety Representative of your research group? If so, please report the resignation and the contact information of the successor GSR by e-mail to AGU.

Laser Safety Officer (LSO)

If your staff member performing the function of laser safety officer is leaving ETH, decide early on who shall take over that function, ensure the necessary training and please contact the section Operational Environmental and Radiation Protection (BUSS) early on to ensure smooth transition and succession.

Radiation Safety Officer (RSO)

If your staff member performing the function of radiation protection officer is leaving ETH, decide early on who shall take over that function, ensure the necessary training and please contact Dr. Silke Kiesewetter early on to ensure smooth transition and succession and to initiate the corresponding modification of the permit with the Swiss Federal Department of Public Health (FOPH).
